Nielsen Ratings Show TV5 Viewership Uptrend

Philippine broadcast network TV5 continues to register a remarkable growth in its viewership ratings as more Filipinos tune in to its programs aired across the country.

In the most recent ratings data released by Nielsen, TV5 marked a consistent uptrend, with its weekday primetime audience shares growing from 5.3 in January to 12.9 as of end of June. Similarly, the network's weekend primetime viewership also improved from 4.2 to 6.9 audience share.

This totaled an overall viewership growth of 89%, ranking TV5 as the country's second most highly rated channel to date.

According to TV5's press announcement, the network attributes this success to the Filipino families who have welcomed the network into their homes by tuning in to the various programs the channel offers.

TV5's ratings growth in the Philippines' southern regions also contributed to the significant rise in the network's primetime audience shares, with an increase of 150% in Visayas and 134% in Mindanao. This growth is most reflected in TV5's primetime programs Frontline Pilipinas, Sing Galing, Niña Niño, John En Ellen, Rolling In It, The Wall Philippines, and Puto; as well as the simulcast of ABS-CBN shows FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, Huwag Kang Mangamba, and La Vida Lena  affirming the success of the network's new programming thrust.

The audiences' positive response to TV5's offerings encourages the network's management, production teams and content partners to up their game and provide what viewers are looking for. "We are thrilled that more and more viewers are tuning in to our shows. We will continue to challenge ourselves to do even better, and we promise to keep creating shows that delight all kinds of audiences," said Cignal TV and TV5 President and CEO, Robert P. Galang.

"And while we now have the best digital TV coverage in Mega Manila, I personally say daghang salamat kaayo to our VisMin Kapatids for their support. We will further expand our DTT network in North and Central Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao by the end of July, ensuring truly nationwide coverage so that Filipinos all over the country can enjoy watching TV5," Galang added.
