The sequel to the highly successful 2018 Netflix original Christmas movie, starring real-life couple Kurt Russel as Santa Claus and Goldie Hawn as Mrs. Claus, will soon be available on the global video streaming service starting November 25.
In The Christmas Chronicles 2, Kate Pierce (Darby Camp), who has turned into a cynical teenager, is unexpectedly reunited with Santa Claus when a mysterious troublemaker named Belsnickel threatens to destroy Christmas forever.
It has been two years since Kate and her brother Teddy (Judah Lewis) saved Christmas, and a lot has changed. Kate is reluctantly spending Christmas in Cancun with her mom's new boyfriend and his son Jack (Jahzir Bruno). Unwilling to accept this new version of her family, Kate decides to run away. But when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel threatens to destroy the North Pole and end Christmas for good, Kate and Jack are unexpectedly pulled into a new adventure with Santa Claus.
Written and directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter), The Christmas Chronicles 2 is an action-packed adventure for the whole family that’s full of heart, humor, and holiday spirit.
Netflix reported in December 2018 that The Christmas Chronicles was watched 20 million times within its first week of availability. This year's sequel will mark Kurt Russell's first starring role since last year's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while Goldie Hawn did Snatched alongside Amy Schumer in 2017.
