Amid a sprawling
50-hectare eco-park in Biñan, Laguna lies the heart of one of the best in
science and technology education in the country – the De La Salle Canlubang
campus. Away from the noise, pollution and other city distractions, the De La
Salle Canlubang campus provides a relaxed and happier atmosphere where students
and the faculty can enjoy the bounties of nature as well as the most
learning-conducive facilities and the best quality education that banners the
De La Salle standard of excellence.
With its global standards of education and
strong Christian formation contributing to nation-building by providing skilled
and fully-competent graduates, De La Salle Canlubang is fast becoming a top
choice among parents for their children’s education. Not only are their
children secured in a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere that is most
conducive to learning, they are also assured of a trusted brand of education
that will give the best possible science and technology training and exposure
in the country.
De La Salle Canlubang
is the first campus in the country to incorporate a science-oriented curriculum
throughout all levels of its academic programs. The proximity of the campus to
the Laguna Technopark, the manufacturing base in the area, has been envisioned
to strengthen the school’s synergy with the surrounding industries, thus
approximating what is taught in the classroom with the actual skills and
qualifications required among industry practitioners. Further, the school’s
fortified integrated school curriculum molds students to become well-rounded
individuals who are prepared to face the challenges of the fast-paced world but
at the same time inculcates in them the values of Christian living and the need
to care for the environment.
According to De
La Salle Canlubang president Bro. Kenneth Martinez FSC, who has been a La
Sallian brother for almost 30 years, De La Salle Canlubang is a very young
campus that started operations in July 2003.
“The school has four pillars of strength, the first being the La Sallian
brand of education that provides strong academic preparation, holistic
Christian formation as well as maintaining a pool of committed and competent faculty
and staff and encouraging community involvement. The second pillar is the care
for the environment. We host regular ecology camps where students among
different La Salle schools come together for
five to six days to study the environment and come up with ways to better care
for nature. You will also see that our campus has a wide clean and green expanse
because we’re only using four hectares of our 50-hectare property. The rest of
the land is occupied by plants and grasslands, giving a more nature-inspiring
atmosphere for our students, faculty and staff.
“The third
pillar is partnership with the industry. Definitely with the school’s proximity
to the Laguna Technopark and our on-the-job-trainings, we provide students with
partner industries that they can work with. At the same time we also invite
industry practitioners to teach part-time in school. For the fourth pillar of strength, De La
Salle Canlubang boasts of its lowest class size, the least teacher-student
ratio in all La Salle schools and in the
surrounding area. We average one teacher per 20 to 35 students. If you count
the integrated school from grade 1 to grade 11, you will come up with an
average of one teacher per 14 students, definitely one of the lowest teacher-student
ratio in the country,” explained Bro. Martinez.
