Viddsee Announces Top 10 Finalists

Viddsee Juree Philippines, a short film festival that celebrates and supports filmmaking communities in Asia, has chosen its set of ten finalists vying to become Gold and Silver winners who will win a five-day film immersion course in Los Angeles, California as well as a coveted set of production equipment including a cinema camera.

The Los Angeles film immersion course is sponsored by the Motion Picture Association while the cinema camera is courtesy of Blackmagic.

Viddsee Juree Awards winners will be announced on November 25 at the FDCP Cinemateque Center Manila. Viddsee will also hold an open-to-the-public series of workshops, forums, and short film screenings at Dela Salle-College of Saint Benilde on November 24 and at the Cinemateque Manila from November 24 to 26.

The top 10 finalists are film entries submitted by promising young filmmakers from the University of the Philippines, Far Eastern University, Mint, College of Saint Benilde, San Juan de Letran, and the International Academy of Film and Television. The short films tackle issues about families, personal struggles, and the realities in rural communities. Some of the stories include a young boy's dream of becoming a mermaid, two brothers dealing with the loss of their parents (shot entirely on a drone), a father battling grief and injustice after his son's death, among other touching stories.

The festival's international panel of judges is composed of Loïc Valceschini, festival programmer of Neuchâtel Int' Fantastic Film Fest; Marcus Manh, Vietnamese film producer and founder of YxineFF; and Antoinette Jadaone, Filipino film writer and director of film blockbuster hits "That Thing Called Tadhana" and "Love You To The Stars and Back".
